New and improved, better than ever—Cyberlink Power2go 7

You thought 6 was good—you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet

How often has this happened to you? You’ve got a bunch of photos on your computer and you want to see them—but you can’t—they’re in ISO format—sucks to be you. Well bunky, your days of frustration and wait are over—let me hear you say hallelujah. With Power2Go’s new ISO image browser, you don’t have to burn a disc to see what is in the image, or to get the contents. Just drag and drop from the image to your hard drive. Much faster … and much easier.

And we know you’ve wanted to share a batch of photos in a high quality, inexpensive convenient form—who hasn’t? Cyberlink’s new photo gallery disc feature lets you burn photos to a CD, DVD or blu-ray disc with a built-in photo browser application—with the photos in their full, original quality. That wasn’t a typo—if you’ve got a burner you can record blu-ray discs up to 128GB.

What about security? Now you can encrypt your data with 256 bit AES encryption. And Power2go 7’s password hint feature helps to make sure you’ll be able to recover it later.

In addition to all of the data, music and video recording functions found in last year’s tired Power2Go 6, the new version adds a desktop gadget to make everyday data recording tasks faster and easier. And there’s a feature we hadn’t noticed in previous versions—erase. You can delete files from a disc, so if you’re doing version updates, or had second thoughts of including that picture of you with the lampshade on your head, now there’s an app for that.

Know a little bit about audio, or just what you like? Now you can tune the tunes to match your ears with the program’s WaveEditor, which makes it easy to clean up or edit audio files. It includes all of the capabilities you would expect, letting you trim or clean up any music file. Just select the section of the file that you want to edit (you can see the edit in and out point controls at the top), and choose the effect you want to apply. You can cut and paste sections of audio, or trim files. You can also use VST plugins.

And for your obese photo and data files, with Power2go 7 you can write to the new BDXL 128GB drives—just say no to Flash.

Cyberlink’s newest version of its best-selling disc burning software. Power2Go version 7, is here now—new and improved (over 6)—$49.95

What do we think?

This software suite has got to be one of the biggest bargains in town. If you want to do anything to a disc, you can. Why would you want to do anything with a disc when flash memory is so small and cheap? Write once store for a very long time. Physical storage of DVDs is more traditional. Ever seen two flash drives the same size? Cyberlink has had six times to get this software right, and they didn’t do bad on version 1. We used version 4 for a long time and it did everything as advertised.
