South Korea’s fabless chipmaker SiliconArts signed a memo of understanding (MOU) business partnership agreement with U.S.-based NewGenGraphics to provide its ray tracing intellectual property (IP) technology.

The company announced to provide real-time ray tracing and RayCore GPU technology to help the American company to develop high-performing graphic architecture as well as produce field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and embedded solutions. NewGenGraphics will also be in charge of global sales of the products.

SilliconArts claims to be the world’s first company to develop and commercialize real-time ray tracing-enabled GPU, RayCore. The company says it was picked as one of the world’s top 10 high-performance computing solution providers in 2019 by APAC CIO Outlook. This year, it released RayCore MC, the real-time path tracing GPU supporting graphic effects such as soft shadow and global illumination to present the highest quality photo-realistic images.

“We will conduct aggressive marketing in the global market including the U.S., China, and Taiwan to sell the real-time RayCore GPU IP and broaden its applications,” said Yoon Hyung-min, CEO of SilliconArts.
