Shanghai Tianshu Zhaoxin Semiconductor Co. has been credited with releasing China’s first 7-nanometer chip based on a proprietary GPU architecture and is code-named “Big Island” GPGPU. Zhaoxin Semiconductor, formed in 2013 as a joint venture between Taiwan’s VIA Technologies and Shanghai’s municipal government, owns part of VIA’s x86 processor IP assets.
