Imagination adds Vulkan 1.2 and more GPUs to its open stack

Imagination’s open-source PowerVR stack hits a real milestone: Vulkan 1.2 code lands in Mesa, kernel work is upstream, and more GPUs are supported. It’s taken years, but the path from “can draw a triangle” to “usable on real boards” is finally visible. IMG’s Software stack (Source: Imagination Technologies) Imagination says its PowerVR open-source driver now has Vulkan 1.2 code contributed to Mesa, with access arriving in Mesa 25.3, while its DRM kernel driver work has been upstreamed (updates in Linux 6.16 and another core queued for 6.18).
