Production-Ready “Interlagos” Processor now shipping to OEMs

AMD announced shipments of the first processors based on its new x86 “Bulldozer” architecture. Initial production of the first 16-core x86 processor, codenamed “Interlagos,” began in August shipping to OEM customers. “Interlagos” is expected to launch and be available in partner systems in the fourth quarter of this year. JPR releases the Q2’11 Workstation report

At 42.3% of units in the second quarter, HP is now the clear leader of the workstation market, further distancing itself from number two Dell, at 33.8%. But the growth story from the second quarter came not from the leader but from number three Lenovo, which jumped from 7.9% to 9.9% share of worldwide units.

GlobalFoundries produces 20nm test chip

Autodesk Acquires Numenus Ray Tracing Technology
