Q2 surprise: graphics shipments up 6.3%

JPR is releasing estimated graphics chip shipments and market share for Q2’11 today. The Q2’11 change in total shipments from last quarter increased 6.3%, significantly above the ten-year average of 3.5%, and raising concerns about an inventory buildup. Qualcomm Acquires Gesture Recognition Assets

Qualcomm Incorporated announced that it has acquired assets from a leader in the gesture recognition field, GestureTek. The acquisition gives Qualcomm ownership of certain intellectual property assets related to gesture recognition, as well as key engineering resources. Gesture recognition technology will be integrated into Qualcomm’s current and next-generation Snapdragon processors.

Comcast teams with Elemental on video

Comcast has tapped Elemental to create the video available to its subscribers on XfinityTV.com and to power its Xfinity TV app for Apple devices.
