AMD and Samsung Electronics extend their licensing partnership.

In 2019, AMD and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. formed a multi-year strategic partnership whereby the major phone supplier would license the highly-scalable AMD RDNA graphics architecture to Samsung, which would integrate custom AMD Radeon graphics IP into future SoCs for mobile devices including smartphones. This gave rise to co-development of the Samsung Xclipse, a mobile GPU that uses AMD’s RDNA 2 GPU IP—which includes AMD’s intersecting ray-tracing processors.
