Arm Ethos-U85 NPU

In April 2024, Arm launched its Ethos-U85 NPU and Corstone-320 IoT platform. The U85 offers up to four times the performance and 20% better power efficiency than its predecessor, with 128–2,048 MAC units and support for transformers, CNNs, and RNNs. It works with Armv9 Cortex-A CPUs for high-performance IoT uses like automation, robotics, and wearables. Compatible with TensorFlow Lite and PyTorch, it supports weight compression and sparsity. Over 20 partners license Ethos NPUs, with early U85 adopters including Alif Semiconductor and Infineon.
