As work progresses on AR, VR, 3D printing, scanning, we’re seeing more tools for creating 3D models. Bellus3D is taking on the challenge of capturing faces with a mobile camera. So far, the method we’ve seen most recently is a large surrounding rack of cameras that captures a 180-degree series of pictures and stitches them into a model with an accompanying texture. Bellus3D’s idea is to do this with a camera attachment for a mobile phone. The gadget made an appearance at CES 2017 this year. The Bellus3D camera is designed to let people make scans of their own face.
