China has taken a clear lead in humanoid robots, home to more than 140 companies building them today. Electric vehicle makers are rushing into the sector: XPeng plans mass production this year, and BYD unveils its first humanoid this month. That scale now doubles as a live test of China’s AI chip self-sufficiency drive, since every one of these robots needs a processor to see, think, and move. The deployment numbers and the chip supply chain tell one connected story.
