Dolby Vision 2 adds AI features and ‘authentic motion’ smoothing

Dolby unveiled Dolby Vision 2 at IFA 2025, reframing HDR as a platform with a rendering engine. Content Intelligence applies ML to content, device, and sensor data to tune tone/gamut mapping, EOTF, white point, ABL, and motion. Tools include Precision Blacks and Authentic Motion, plus stronger white-point governance. Two tiers launch: Vision 2 and Vision 2 Max, the latter adding bidirectional tone mapping and controls. Hisense leading the charge on MediaTek’s Pentonic 800, with phased availability amid competition from HDR10+ and HLG.
