GlobalFoundries moves to own a bigger piece of the RISC-V stack

GlobalFoundries (GF) has agreed to acquire MIPS, a pioneer in RISC-based processor IP, to strengthen its offering of customizable RISC-V platforms for applications such as autonomous mobility and edge AI. MIPS will continue to operate independently within GF, preserving its road map and ecosystem, while contributing its processor IP and tools to GF’s capabilities. The move supports GF’s push into physical AI and reinforces both companies’s commitment to open standards and modular design.
