Chrome books have been a small, but steady specialized market, primarily for the educational field. Some saw as a replacement for the 2005 One Laptop per child dream of Nicholas Negroponte of MIT Media lab. Introduced in 2013, about 45 million Chromebooks have been shipped to date.
