Intel ekes out a gain in revenue but increases loss

Intel is undergoing a major restructuring under CEO Lip-Bu Tan, cutting 24,000 jobs from its 2024 workforce of 109,800 (99,500 Intel core employees) and aiming to reduce head count to 75,000 core employees by late 2025. The company is shutting down projects in Germany and Poland, closing facilities in Costa Rica, and slowing construction in Ohio. Intel reported a $2.9 billion loss in Q2 2025 but sees long-term opportunity in AI and foundry operations.
