Positron AI builds power and memory-efficient AI chips

Positron, a Reno-based chip start-up, challenges Nvidia by offering energy-efficient, memory-optimized inference chips. Its Arizona-manufactured Atlas chips use less power than Nvidia H100s, delivering comparable performance and superior efficiency. Atlas, already shipping, supports large transformer models and integrates with existing software. Positron’s upcoming Titan platform (2026) will feature vast memory (up to 16 trillion parameters) and air cooling, addressing AI’s memory bottleneck. Despite market volatility, Positron emphasizes US production and a memory-first design, securing significant funding to scale its competitive AI hardware solutions for diverse applications.
