Shanghai Tianshu Intellectual Semiconductor Big Island

In January, we reported the announcement by Shanghai Tianshu Zhaoxin Semiconductor Co. about their plans to design, build, and deploy a GPU intended for GPU-compute. The company described it as a GPGPU accelerator for AI, especially training and HPC deployment. It was to be fabricated in a 7-nm process by TSMC. Shanghai Tianshu Zhaoxin Semiconductor Co., Ltd., commonly known (at least in Asia) as Tianshu Zhixin, was set up in 2013 as a joint venture between the Shanghai municipal government and Taiwan’s VIA Technologies.
