Tencent has developed its own video transcoding accelerator called Canghai, which has been installed in tens of thousands of its cloud and media servers. The chip focuses on high image quality, low delay, and low cost in video codec, and has a high-density transcoding capability of 1,024 channels on a single machine. Tencent claims that its compression rate is higher than other devices on the market by more than 35%, and its transcoder can greatly improve picture quality compared to standard hardware.
