Khronos has been working to develop an H.264, H.265, and VP9 codec capability for developing video applications with Vulkan. This week, the fruits of that work were revealed, and Khronos announced full video capability with multiple Vulkan drivers. LunarG has released the Vulkan Software Development Kit (SDK) version 1.3.239.0 for Windows and Linux, with full support for the four Vulkan Video extensions finalized in December 2022, including header upgrades and validation layer integration.
