Will China care?

AMD and Nvidia rumored to be designing China-specific chips.

A new term, CSIC (China Specific IC), describes detuned superchips Nvidia, AMD, and possibly Intel are developing to bypass US export restrictions to China. While feasible, it may be too late, as Chinese entities are actively transitioning to domestically produced chips and AI models. The Trump administration underestimates China’s self-sufficiency and engineering talent. Nvidia’s estimated $4 billion to $5 billion sales loss won’t be recovered by these workarounds, which require significant time.
