Groq, a San Jose–based AI chip start-up founded in 2016, builds custom Language Processing Units (LPUs) using a Tensor Streaming Processor architecture for low-latency, high-throughput AI inference. Samsung invests in and manufactures Groq chips, while GlobalFoundries handles US fabrication. Last year, Groq partnered with Saudi Aramco Digital to support new data centers, projecting $2 billion in 2024 revenue.
