Q1’26 PC graphics add-in board shipments decreased -0.6% from last quarter, to 12 million units, with a CAGR to 2029 of -3.3%

Jon Peddie Research has released its first-quarter 2026 AIB report. Shipments decreased from the previous quarter and now stand at 12 million units.

According to a new research report from the analyst firm Jon Peddie Research, the growth of the global PC-based graphics add-in board market reached 11.8 million units in Q1’26, and desktop PC CPUs shipments decreased to 15.7 million units.

Overall, AIBs will have a compound annual growth rate of -3.3% from 2024 to 2029 and reach an installed base of 183 million units at the end of the forecast period. Over the next five years, the penetration of AIBs in desktop PCs will be 129%.

As indicated in the following chart, AMD’s overall AIB market share decreased by -0.04% from last quarter, Intel’s market share increased by 0.4%, and Nvidia’s market share decreased by -0.4%.

• The AIB overall attach rate in desktop PCs for the quarter increased to 76%, up 33.2% from last quarter.

• The desktop PC CPU market decreased -25% year to year and decreased -24% quarter to quarter.

The first quarter is traditionally flat to down from the previous quarter. This quarter’s AIB shipments decreased from the previous quarter to 11.82 million units. That was less than the historical 10-year average of  12.07% for this quarter. AIB shipments increased by 8.3% from last year. 

“The quarter’s AIB shipments were down because of higher prices and limited supply due to limited memory and disruptions in the supply chain,” said Dr. Jon Peddie, president of Jon Peddie Research.
