The minis versus the maxi.

Workstations are getting more and more powerful, as they are expected to handle today’s heavier and heavier workloads—particularly in this age of AI. And yet, many are getting smaller in size, belying the power that lies beneath.

JPR’s sister site BabelTechReviews (BTR) recently put the Corsair AI Workstation 300 through its paces, conducting a thorough review of this compact system, which is designed primarily for AI and machine learning. In comparing its performance throughout a battery of tests, BTR  benchmarked it alongside the HP Z2 Mini G1a (which the BTR previously reviewed) and BTR’s own high-end consumer computer.

On the surface, it looked like an uneven matchup. Among other considerations, the PCs are “creator” PCs, but the Corsair is an “AI-first workstation.” Despite the two minis having very similar hardware, pricing among the three systems varied widely. In the review, BTR details the test configuration of the trio as well as the software stack used, before getting down to business. So, how did the AI Workstation 300 perform?

From the initial impressions upon unboxing the AI Workstation 300 though the various benchmarking, BTR provides readers with the hard performance numbers. The reviewer, Mark Poppin, then provides his final thoughts—all of which can be found in the article here.
