TIBURON, CA (May 13, 2025) ─ Jon Peddie Research reports that the global client CPU market continues to swing from quarter to quarter and in Q1’25 dipped 0.3% from Q1’24, while server CPU shipments increased 26% year over year.

The overall PC CPU market decreased by 14% quarter to quarter and by 0.3% year to year.

Server CPU shipments increased by 4% from the previous quarter and were up 26% from the previous year; AMD increased to 27% of the market.

The first quarter is typically flat to down compared to the previous quarter. This quarter’s total iGPU shipments, which include all client platforms, dropped 15% from the previous quarter and 3% from last year.

“The PC market has been buffeted by the on- and off-again tariffs threatened and implemented by the Trump administration,” said Dr. Jon Peddie, president of Jon Peddie Research. “The client PC market will continue to ricochet from the daily news reports of a trade war, no trade, maybe a trade war. Consumers and OEMs are doing panic buying, something that never really works, but it rocks the supply chain and the market furiously and unpredictably.”

JPR’s Overview of PC Client CPUs and iGPUs report is available now for free for Market Watch subscribers and individually for $250.
