According to the latest research report from Jon Peddie Research, the growth of the global PC-based graphics add-in board market reached 12.5 million units in Q2’26, and desktop PC CPUs shipments decreased to 14 million units.

Overall, AIBs will have a compound annual growth rate of -2.5% from 2025 to 2030 and reach an installed base of 193 million units at the end of the forecast period. Over the next five years, the penetration of AIBs in desktop PCs will be 130%.

The second quarter is traditionally down from the previous quarter. This quarter’s AIB shipments were up 10% from the previous quarter to 12.5 million units.

The reversal of a declining AIB market in 2025 raised hope and expectations, only to be whiplashed by war, memory shortage, and tariff flip-flops,” Dr. Jon Peddie, president of JPR, commented. “But then, defying common wisdom, high-end AIB sales spiked as prices increased. Our theory is consumers rushed to buy AIBs before the prices went any higher, as the war in Iran is driving prices up in all segments.”
