JPR has released its Q2’26 Overview of PC Client CPUs and iGPUs report, finding that the overall server CPU market increased by 8% quarter to quarter and by 22% year to year.

Figure 1. This quarter saw an increase in the total client CPU market.
Jon Peddie Research reports that the global client CPU market has expanded in Q2’26, increasing 9.4%, more than seasonality would predict from last quarter, while client CPU shipments declined a modest -1.1% year over year.
Q2 is typically down due to seasonality, as OEMs and the retail channels try to get rid of leftover holiday inventory and make way for the new products. Intel’s 18A improvements + strength in server CPUs (likely networking/storage) allowed them to deliver a very good data center quarter.
AMD’s upward server trend continues in units and revenue.

Client CPU units and revenue looked solid in the quarter, though some of that reflects OEM inventory rebuilding rather than pure demand strength. Worth remembering: Q1 was a rough supply quarter for Intel, and OEM inventories dropped then, so this quarter’s build mostly just restores normal levels.
“The DIY channel ran weak,” said Dr. Jon Peddie, “since most educated gamers had already pulled their purchases into Q4 2025 ahead of planned memory and SSD price increases. Intel ramped Panther Lake in Q2 on reported 18A yield gains, pushing ASPs and revenue higher. Server CPU demand still outpaces supply, driven by agentic AI lifting both unit volume and mix.”
Pricing and availability
JPR’s Overview of PC Client CPUs and iGPUs report is now available for free to Market Watch subscribers and can be purchased separately for $250.
The upcoming Q2’26 edition of Market Watch will contain the above information and more. For easier consumption, we have revised the report’s format from a heavily narrated version to a more visually appealing chart-based version. We have also added server and client CPU shipment data back to Q1’21 and GPU-compute (GPGPU) shipment data back to Q1’21 for AMD, Intel, and Nvidia. We have expanded the pivot data array to include those devices.
A single issue of JPR’s Market Watch sells for $3,000. This report includes an Excel workbook with the data used to create the charts, the charts themselves, and supplemental information. The annual subscription price for JPR’s Market Watch is $6,000 and includes four quarterly issues.
