Jon Peddie Research has released its second-quarter 2026 Market Watch report covering the global PC-based graphics processing unit market.
Jon Peddie Research reports that the global PC-based graphics processing unit (GPU) market in Q2’26 grew to 75.5 million GPUs, an increase of 10.4% quarter to quarter and 1.1% year over year, while PC CPU shipments decreased -1.1% year over year. GPUs have an overall CAGR of -0.6% to 2029.
Total desktop graphics decreased by -4% quarter to quarter, and notebooks increased by 16.8%.
AMD’s overall market share increased by 0.6% from last quarter, Intel’s market share decreased by -1.0%, and Nvidia’s market share increased by 0.46%.

Year over year, total GPU shipments, including all platforms and all GPUs, increased by 1.1%, led by notebooks.
As indicated in the following chart, AMD’s shipments increased 0.6%, Intel’s decreased by -1.0%, and Nvidia’s increased 0.46% quarter over quarter.

Overall, CPU unit shipments increased 10.10% from last quarter; AMD’s CPU shipments increased 12.74%, and Intel’s increased 8.99%.
Total GPUs’ attach rate (which includes integrated and discrete GPUs, desktops, notebooks, and workstations) to PCs for the quarter was 120% and increased 0.3% from the previous quarter.

The first quarter is traditionally flat to down. This quarter’s GPU shipments were up from the 10-year average of 6%.
“The second quarter is typically down compared to the previous quarter,” said Dr. Jon Peddie, president of Jon Peddie Research.
“This quarter, dGPUs increased by 12.2%, even while a global memory crisis sent component prices soaring, driven by a mix of supply-side positioning, artificial demand shocks, and localized market dynamics,” he added.
