Intel makes their case for “Ultrabooks” at Computex

New Executive Vice President Sean Maloney gave us a new category to look out for during his keynote, “ultrabooks,”. Ultrabooks are defined as thin, powerful and energy-efficient notebooks that offer tablet-like features, such as responsiveness and—eventually—touch capabilities. Intel expects that 40 percent of notebooks shipped by the end of 2012 will be ultrabooks.

Nvidia lands orders for three million Tegra 2 chips from Samsung

Nvidia has obtained orders for three million Tegra 2 chips from Samsung Electronics which will launch 10.1-inch Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) Tegra 2 Galaxy Tab in early June, according to company CEO and president Huang Jen-hsun. Nvidia has shipped 10 million Tegra 2 chips cumulatively and expects the shipment volume to exceed 25 million chips in 2011.

The workstation market slows to a more sustainable pace in Q1’11

Q1’11 is now in the books, with the quarter seeing 860.0 thousand workstations shipped worldwide, representing a 4.8% sequential decline and an 18.6% year-over-year gain. While reduced growth might leave some disappointed, we see it as a healthy sign the market is stabilizing and averting a second dip. Nvidia and Google team up for 3D YouTube

With increasing 3D content available everywhere YouTube and Nvidia have decided to team up. “YouTube is adding support for HTML5 and WebM standards to the thousands of 3D videos available on YouTube. Autodesk net income up 170%

Autodesk reported this week that revenue was up 11% in the first quarter of fiscal 2012, compared to the same quarter a year earlier, and net income was up 170% from a year earlier. Revenue was $528 million for 1Q12 (ended April 30, 2011), up 11%. Net income was $99.7 million, up 170% from $36.9 million a year ago. This … Read more
