Intel unveiled its 14th Generation desktop processor family, with the flagship i9-14900K. This release introduces six new unlocked desktop processors, offering up to 24 cores, 32 threads, and clock speeds of up to 6 GHz. The Intel Core i7-14700K boasts 20 cores and 28 threads, aided by four Efficient-cores (E-cores) compared to the previous generation. The Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) now includes an AI Assist feature for simplified AI-guided overclocking on select unlocked Intel Core 14th Gen desktop processors. These processors are compatible with existing 600/700-series motherboards and will be available on October 17, 2023.

What do we think?  The new processors are backward compatible to motherboards to Intel 600- and 700-series chipset meaning you can upgrade without having to rip out and replace the whole motherboard. And for an added boost you could replace your DDR4 with DDR5—DIY is back!
